Alpha Academies Trust piloted Olex across two of its secondary schools, Excel Academy and Discovery Academy, to test whether Olex marking could stand up against the demands of GCSE mock season. English departments ran live mock papers through Olex alongside their usual marking process, comparing turnaround time, feedback quality, and accuracy against teacher judgement.
Impact at the Excel Academy
At the Excel Academy, many students said they preferred Olex’s marking to the teacher’s own, feeling it gave them more individualised feedback. EAL students were particularly positive. Several said this was “brilliant” and that it helped them understand exactly what they needed to do.
