How our school uses Olex.AI
Our school uses Olex.AI to help teachers provide timely, high-quality feedback on pupils’ writing.
Olex.AI is a teacher-led tool. It is not a replacement for teachers, and it is not an open-ended chatbot for pupils. Teachers upload pupils’ typed or handwritten writing, choose the relevant assessment criteria, and use Olex.AI to generate draft feedback and class-level insights.
The teacher remains in control throughout the process. Feedback can be reviewed, edited and approved by the teacher before it is shared with pupils. This means that professional judgement, knowledge of the child and classroom context remain central.
We use Olex.AI to support writing assessment and feedback, particularly in English. It can help teachers identify strengths, next steps and common themes across a class, allowing them to plan teaching and intervention more effectively.
We also recognise that some families may have questions about AI. Olex.AI states that student work is not used to train AI models, and that student information is managed in a secure, UK GDPR-compliant environment. As a school, we use the platform in line with our own data protection responsibilities.
Olex.AI can also support inclusion. Where appropriate, feedback can be translated for pupils with English as an additional language, helping families better understand learning and next steps at home.
Our aim is simple: to use technology carefully and responsibly to support teachers, improve feedback and help pupils make progress in their writing.

The teacher reviews this feedback before it is shared, using their professional judgement and knowledge of the pupil’s learning. Student names are anonymised before any work is processed by AI.
No, student work is not used to train AI models.

Our marking is built to be bias-free and consistent, so every student is assessed against the same standard, whoever they are.
AI is becoming part of the world pupils are growing up in. Our role is to use it carefully, safely and responsibly, while helping pupils understand that technology should support learning, not replace thinking, effort or teacher guidance.
