Olex.AI has just launched a major update in the UK, that makes it clear why I’m such a fan of what they’re doing. At the heart of this release is the new UK Department for Education Writing Framework. 

Olex has released a Power Pack of tools built directly around the Department for Education’s new writing framework. What I love is that they’ve avoided the trap of going broad and unfocused. Instead, they’ve doubled down on writing and done it properly.

The PowerPack brings three elements together: OlexTeach, OlexFeedback, and Olex Analytics. Olex Teach is brand-new, giving teachers scaffolded lessons, model texts, and assignments directly aligned with the framework. 

Feedback has been re-engineered so students now get comments written in the exact language of the framework, while Analytics offers an 87-point assessment rubric that tracks progress in detail and at scale. These three tools loop seamlessly into one another, so the system becomes a cycle of teaching, feedback, and improvement.

What makes this special is that Olex isn’t just building shiny features, it’s rooted in pedagogy. They’ve worked closely with Dr. Tim Mills, the lead author of the framework, to make sure everything is academically sound.
