Imaginator Impact: “I was blown away by the vivid imagery.”

Olex.AI friend, Ben Thomas, describes his first experience of The Imaginator and the moment he realised it was a game-changer for student engagement with writing.

I opened my emails with a sense of excitement and anticipation. What would be waiting for me when I typed in my password and the spinning wheel finally dissolved into a thread of unread matter, bold subject lines and red exclamation marks.

I scanned down the list quickly, searching for THE email I was looking for. Right in the middle of the latest batch of typed words was the subject “here you go”. Bingo! I clicked the email, opened the document and there it was: one of our Year 6 pupil’s writing turned into AI images, courtesy of Olex.AI’s “The Imaginator”.

Let’s go back a stage.

I was invited to send in some writing from our Year 6 pupils, where they had written a narrative piece. Personally, I felt the writing was good. Plenty of description, a solid blend of speech and character development, and varied vocabulary. Having asked the pupils themselves, the Olex.AI as I do, there would have been a very valid reason.

That reason was clear very quickly.

Using AI (something I’m yet to fully grasp or understand), they had turned our student’s writing into images generated specifically from the word choices the pupils had used in their narrative pieces. As I scanned the documents in front of me, I was blown away by the vivid imagery, the clear and precise nature of the pictures and the presentation of the document itself. Even the smallest details in the writing were picked up in the AI pieces and quite honestly, I was blown away not only by the pieces themselves but the sheer potential of the product.

The idea that children of all ages could write something, even a few sentences and have it turned into images that they have, in essence, created themselves, is a real game changer. The images produced could be turned into individual or class books, displays, posters – anything. And here in lies the beauty of the product itself: its outcome is always in the hands of the young people producing the writing. Any level, any quantity, any word choice: all able to produce exciting, inspiring, and amazing imagery.

If only we could have this feeling every time we open our emails, hey?!
